The Grand Tetons

I asked Matt to write this post, because he really loved the Grand Tetons, but he’s been busy with Maggie while I drive, reading her the Ramona books (she just loves them!), playing her at card games, and singing “99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall” with her (though she only uses the number 98....). Maybe he can write his own post about the Tetons later.

The word “Teton” means boob in French. That means this mountain range was most certainly discovered by male explorers. The Grand Tetons don’t really look like boobs, though. I think they look like shark teeth! No matter what they look like, our visit there was lovely.

We started with a quick trip to the Grand Teton Brewing Company for pints on their huge lawn overlooking the mountains, then drove into the town of Jackson for a walk around the square and a visit to the ice cream shop. Moose antlers were everywhere! Maggie liked the ones that made chandeliers.

We drove on to our campsite in the National Park and were greeted by a moose mama and her calf!! It was very exciting. After a good night’s sleep it was off to explore the park. Maggie was a trooper, hiking much of a 2 mile snowy climb to an icy lake.

We went back into Jackson that afternoon, this time by bike. The wind was insane!! We arrived tired and hungry and devoured a pizza at Pinky G’s, a pizzeria featured on the Food Network. Matt took Mags back to our site and let me have a ride to myself, and I spotted another moose! S’mores around the fire rounded out our day, and Maggie appropriately chose her moose pajamas that night.
