There was no room for us around Moab last night, so we hit the road and slept at a truck stop. There was a certain sense of relief when we woke up in the morning, and we high-tailed it out of there.
First stop: Capital Reef National Park. This seemed to be one of the more interesting
stops to us when we read about it in the guide book, but it disappointed us. Inside the park is a preserved Mormon settlement
and some of their buildings and orchards remain there. We enjoyed walking around, but there were
almost no signs or markers explaining what things were. A total let-down to this history-loving
family.
So we continued on to Bryce National Park. Only, we didn’t make it. As Matt wrote earlier today, our brakes
started smelling and we had to stop to get them looked at. (The guys at the car place literally just
looked at them, said they were fine, and gave us some advice.) We made an afternoon of it by playing at a playground (so odd to not be at the playground lately!) and getting ice cream. Then we made it to our KOA and did laundry,
cleaning, and a small hike before having dinner and building a fire. The owner was so tickled by Maggie that he bought
her a Klondike bar. So a crummy day was
made delightful, and God kept us safe despite some RV trouble and steep,
winding roads. We are thankful!
Good to hear a crummy day turned delightful. Sending love from AA
