Easter was celebrated grandly yesterday! I began the day with a run up the mountain (perhaps spotting mountain lion tracks) and came back to the delectable smell of cinnamon rolls baking in the oven...the kids were in Heaven! We celebrated Christ’s resurrection through online “church” and then embarked on an epic Easter egg hunt - 121 eggs spread all over the yard. As I write, one is still out there somewhere...
Aaron smoked cod and Ellen made veggies and we shared our last wonderful meal together. Then it was off to Matt’s cousin’s house, where a dozen of the Ackerman family reunited for a lovely Easter dinner. It was so fun! The kids wore out Dotty the dog in the yard while we adults talked and laughed, and we all gathered around Ann and Joe’s picnic table for a feast of pasta, salad, and pie - yum! (Also, the wine and beer were lovely, but not as good as Joe’s cocktails.)
Aaron called on our way home to say that Elia had suffered a neck injury while jumping on the trampoline and was in the hospital. We put the other kiddos to bed and prayed for dear Elia, and learned this morning that she has no major injuries and no more pain (just a really wicked neck brace). Praise God for answered prayer!
After long hugs and tearful goodbyes, we jumped back in Samantha and are on the road again. We’ll arrive at Great Sand Dunes National Park in a few minutes and will enjoy hiking the site with the delightful memories of Boulder tucked into our back pockets.
